John has had a successful design background in the UK and America winning 2 international design prizes, The Richardson Gold Medal and the Alexel 83 Award.
A Fellow of the Institute of Patentees and Inventors John is named as the inventor in over 150 patents.
Up to 1995 180 million GBP of profitable product sales had been made worldwide by various companies from John’s designs.
7 products are still listed at the Design Centre and John has made 3 appearances on Tomorrows World.

Relocating to the Aude in 2006 John has now teamed up with James Ayres one of the most exciting design talents to emerge in the UK in the last decade.
With a spectacular back ground in interior design and innovative work for such diverse industries as Office Furniture and Mountain Bike companies, James has added his leading edge flair to John’s more established work to form a new design partnership Jaro Enterprises.

James and John are presenting two pieces for this exhibition The Nail Chair and a novel piece with the working title of “Different points of View” which James says was “inspired as a design study because of the number of pending divorces among my mates!”

Both prototype pieces are exhibited here for the first time.

James’s piece was largely constructed from old pallet wood and ply off cuts in true keeping with the theme of recycling, but The Nail Chair has been notable and rather cynically described by John when asked about the recycled content as “yes of course it’s bloody recycled - it used to be a tree!”
